During Monday’s press conference, Mark Stoops was asked about his relationship with his Saturday counterpart, Alabama head coach Nick Saban. Stoops revealed that Saban recruited him in high school and the courtship had a rough ending. Later in the press conference, Stoops shared a funny story about Saban and Stoops’ uncle Bob, which occurred in Youngstown, Ohio. Saturday’s 17-10 win over South Carolina was without a doubt the best performance of the season for Kentucky’s defense. The Wildcats held the Gamecocks to only 268 total yards of offense. The defense sacked quarterback Brandon Mcllwain four times and South Carolina only converted 3-of-13 third downs. How do we evaluate this defense going forward? Quarterback Stephen Johnson picked up his first SEC win Saturday night in a 17-10 win over South Carolina. The junior quarterback completed 11-of-19 passes for 135 yards and one interception.
