It was an ugly game that had no flow. Kentucky and Mississippi State combined to commit 52 fouls. But that didn’t stop Kentucky from staying perfect in the SEC. The Wildcats (16-2, 6-0) defeated Mississippi State (12-5, 3-2) 88-81. Kentucky went into the half with a 46-34 lead. Five players had two fouls. In one month, Nick Mingione’s first season as the head coach of the UK baseball team will get underway as the Cats open against North Carolina in Chapel Hill. In total, the Cats will face nine teams who played in last year’s NCAA Tournament and will play 17 games against teams ranked in the preseason top-12. It’s a challenge Mingione welcomes and is part of his plan for establishing the UK baseball program as a national power. ... Read more

Four future Kentucky Wildcats will play in the 2017 McDonald’s All-American game. Power forward PJ Washington, point guard Quade Green, center Nick Richards and forward Jarred Vanderbilt were all awarded the prestigious honor and will all be playing on the East Team. Kentucky has the most participants in the game. Duke and UCLA were tied for the second most, each having two players selected.
